It's back! Liquid Lounge is resurrected!! Rejoice!!!
« on: 10:40:25 | 25 February, 2021 »
Okay, so after a couple of years when your favourite streaming radio station endured a Red Tide of attacks from the east, and then my ISP gave me a new router to go with my gigabyte connection which really didn't like port forwarding for some reason.

Anyway, it's back, playing a random, but rather perfectly curated selection of mostly alt.Euro music from my home network store. Now all I can say is that sometimes I'm listening and congratulating myself on my sublime music collection. Other times it makes me wonder what on earth possessed me...

However, should you feel inclined:

Liquid Lounge - You'll need a player which can play a .pls file (playlist).

Is "Too Drunk to F'" by the Dead Kennedys still in the parade of hits?  I recall playing your channel on the back porch speakers one summer day when that ditty came on and earned me the opprobrium of the neighbors and their small children.

That couldn't have been me. The only version of that little ditty I have is by Nouvelle Vague... that's yer' actual French...

For fellow music aficionados who can't wait for this ode to Bacchus - there is almost a year's worth of music in my library - you can test the sensitivity of your ears here:

Okay... So a few teething problems...

The old laptop I run my music server on hadn't been switched on for about 18 months. So after it had been on for a day or so decided it was going to do a huge Windows update which took hours...

Anyway, it's back. I had to tune a couple of things and revert from AAC198 which was posting "frame match" errors to AAC128 which seems to be okay. I've reverted to AAC198 to see if the errors come back. Otherwise, I'll have to see if I can insert a better AAC codec.

PS: Also getting this error:

DEBUG   [STREAMDATA sid=1] frame match failed, resync set to 0

Does this come through on the receiver's end?

Thx for your help

Got it work on my PC via the VLC player. Is there a stream that can be added to my internet radio?

No, no warnings about frame matches, whatever those might be.

Also getting the occasional track that sounds like a growler. Apparently, it arises when a certain format sample rate clashes in some way with the output codec in the transcription.

I've changed the output codec/sampling rate to see if it makes a difference.

Wrt the frame match issue. It seems to be a report from the client side because it only happens with certain users. But if there are no complaints, then who cares?

I did hear one song that was screwed up, right after I turned on Liquid Lounge.  The Link kept showing "buffering" and the music was extremely distorted.  The next song played with no problems, however, and it hasn't happened since when I've been listening.

Okay... It's gone again...

Shoutcast updated itself from 2.5 to 2.6... Without paying $10.00/pcm I'm limited to only playing mp3/128 and virtually all my stuff is lossless.

So...

The Lounge is temporarily - I hope - off the air.

So I'm trying to find the installation files for Shoutcast 2.5 and its associated GUI... This is proving very difficult. So if anyone has them???

thx
