Transport Controls on Bush TR2015
« on: 00:56:06 | 27 October, 2011 »
Hi there,

I'm wondering whether anyone can help me with my Bush TR2015 WIFI radio.  I've had it for a few years and it's worked pretty well for me (with the default setup).  I now live abroad and have recently tried to access the BBC's Listen Again / On Demand programmes to find that the option of changing the start time counter has gone and the transport controls don't work.  Last time I tried was a couple of years ago back in the UK.

I found the Reciva Users Wiki page (http://www.reciva-users.wikispot.org/BBCOnDemand) that talks about the BBC's change from RealAudio to WMA, and about restricting content for overseas users.

Can anyone tell me how I can get the transport controls back?  I upgraded the firmware (to v589-a-950-a-236) but that didn't fix it.  I've read a bit about Sharpfin upgrades, but don't know whether that'll help me.  Is being abroad anything to do with it?

Any guidance would be much appreciated, even if it's just confirmation that I need to buy a new radio!

You can install the beta firmware - this will allow the transport controls.  The only effect outside the UK is that some streams are lower quality.

I see the OP has installed the beta and is happy so this comment is only for those who might have a similar query in the future and come upon this topic.

The way that Castalla has written his reply could be interpreted as meaning that the beta firmware itself is the cause of lower quality on streams received outside the UK.  Not so.

PS to Castalla.  Your username is so similar to "Castella" (the cigar) that, at some point, the conscious effort I need to not type that will fail.  Apologies in advance  :).
