By that, I mean a router which can establish a vpn link with url and password.

There are Draytek routers that can do that (http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/comparison.html). I've owned a Draytek in the past, and was very happy with it, but I have no experience with the current crop of Drayteks.

Yes Draytek. I use both Vigor 2820 (dual WAN with 1 DSL modem and one Ethernet port) and Vigor 2920 (dual WAN with 2 Ethernet ports) and both allow "dial in" user/pass VPN access via the WANs. It's very helpful in connecting to LAN-side hosts and also back to the Internet via router's WANs, so can access BBC iPlayer outside of UK or Daily Show/Colbert/Hulu from outside of USA.

Actually, your tip re: UnoTelly has been a big improvement on UnBlockUs. I may not need to go down the vpn router route ...

I haven't used it myself except for the free trial.  I get the same feature bundled with my VPN service from streamvia - they are very good with excellent support.
