VPN can be useful for some things. A couple of uses come to mind:

Accessing services such as Netflix in different countries. It's amazing what's available elsewhere, and I presume, vice versa. Netflix has said it's going to crack down on VPN use although how likely they'll be able to succeed at this is causing lots of discussion around the forums. And, of course, other service providers are available.

I download - and pay for - HD audio and studio-quality sound files which often are only available in, say, Europe.

And of course, then there is obscuring your location while using BitTorrent, but I wouldn't know a thing about that. Oh no ...

so it seems that VPN is working again with US to UK... odd  but ill take it!
