Okay - finally got this working on Vlc using the https://billing.cactusvpn.com/free-smartdns-trial/ route

I assume it'll also work on the Pure - I'll try it later today.

Thanks Castalla, it'll be interesting to see how you get on! :) I haven't worked out how to get into changing the DNS address in my Pure Siesta Flow, the menu is a bit fiddly. If you get on okay with it on your Pure One Flow, I'll have a bash on my Siesta Flow although I expect the menus are very different.

After much fiddling with the Pure menus (hideously bad) I finally managed to get the radio to connect using a static network address (and the Cactus DNS address).

WSOC works!

As far as I can tell, the Unotelly dns doesn't work, but Cactus does.

If you can figure out how to set up the Siesta Flow with a static address then it should work - you'll need to set up a trial account at Cactus VPN.  It's easy - just needs your email address, verify your IP and make a note of the cactus DNS address (you need that for the static settings on the radio.

Above is a link the the manual for my radio... I'm not sure where to get the bit for DNS settings... do I do a manual network setup? I did see something about a static or DHCP address there... it currently connects to my wi-fi. I've not delved any further than that...

Yes you need to set up a static connection not DHCP

Tell me the current address of your radio (something like 192.168.x.x )

I can tell you what to enter.

A possibly easier way is to change the dns in your router.

What router do you have?

I don't know... don't want to alter my router settings really, unless I have too... it's a Sky router. Um, how do I find out the current address on the radio? PM me if it's easier...

I understand your reluctance to mess with the router!

On Siesta:

3.7 Wi-Fi settings
Tap Options in either ‘The Lounge’ or ‘Media player’ source and highlight and select ‘Wi-Fi settings’ to
view the following list of options for configuring your wireless network.

View Details

Select ‘View details’ to list the following technical information about the configuration of the wireless network that Siesta Flow is connected to:

Network name The Network Name (SSID) is shown at the top of the screen.
Encryption The encryption method is listed (WEP, WPA or WPA2).

IP address The IP address of the radio.   THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED

Net mask The configured network mask.  ALSO THIS

Router The gateway router IP address      ALSO THIS

IT WORKS IT WORKS IT WORKS :)

*doing happy dance*

Oh my God it actually works. Thank you Alan and castalla. I can't believe this. It's working. I'm listening to WSOC-FM through my Pure Siesta Flow (with altered settings) via my Audio In jack on my Sony Hi-Fi.
