new WUVT AAC stream
« on: 04:54:42 | 30 March, 2017 »
WUVT also has a AAC stream, a solution for that not many WiFi radios support their OGG stream,
but .... i tried some of the links on Icestream: https://stream.wuvt.vt.edu or https://stream.wuvt.vt.edu/wuvt-hq.aac
I tried them in the serction My Streams by entering these urls but none of them seem to work, so i guess the Reciva server doesn't support this kind of stream ?
Thanks,
Eric-Jan van den Bogaard.

https://stream.wuvt.vt.edu/wuvt-hq.aac doesn't play on my TMA1 radio either, for unknown reasons. Presumably if a stream doesn't play on relatively recent Reciva radios (like the TMA1, firmware 266-a-113-a-590) it will not pass the stream test and then an alternative stream that does play on the majority of Reciva radios is used instead. I would have thought that most Reciva radios using the latest available firmware can handle OGG streams. My older Avox Petite radio on firmware 265-d-254-a-269-a-138 plays the WUVT OGG stream without any problems.

Thankyou, for your reply Zeewier, yes, my Lenco (Receiva) does play OGG Vorbis streams, (WUVT also) Strange only, on my Argon Audio Stream2M it could only find the WUVT AAC stream, i guess this a "common" vTuner/frontier server radio, my guess is that a AAC320 stream is better than a OGG320 stream, so i'm a bit confused by this all, I see the the AAC as a big improvement, but not for my Reciva radio at the moment.
Thanks,

I don't think I could subjectively hear much difference in audio quality between an AAC 320 kbps stream and an OGG 320 stream. But maybe some people can.

okay, i thought that the AAC is a better codec, technical.
To be honest, i can't hear any difference too, when it's good it's good :)

follow up: the stream works fine now, they were trying some things with sending extra music info text.
sadlly ..this all comes to an end through Reciva...
The WUVT website has some good detailed info about their streams. (OGG Vorbis and AAC)
Thanks,
