Based on its good reviews on amazon.de, am thinking of getting one, as it also receives DAB+. It apparently runs under Vtuner.  Supposedly can handle 40 presets.
Does anyone see any serious reasons not to buy this model? In particular becasue of Vtuner, which I have not heard much about over the past few years.
TIA

The Medion kitchen radio looks very much like it is based on the Frontier Silicon Venice 6.5 module, but Medion have their own vTuner portal rather than using the default wifiradio-frontier.com portal (unlike with Reciva, the various branded vTuner sites do not recognise each other's user logons).

40 presets is very generous; Roberts radios also offer 40, and Hama radios usually 30; most others only offer 10 - for example, the very similar Auna KR-200 (http://www.auna.de/Radios/auna-KR-200-Unterbau-Kuechenradio-Spotify-Connect-WiFi-DAB-silber.html).

To be able to play MPEG-DASH streams/podcasts, it must have firmware version 2.10 or higher.

Hama also have a Frontier-based internet radio in the same format, but it lacks DAB.

Radios in use: Roberts Stream 93i & SB1 (×2),  Revo Pixis RX, Hama DIT2010, IR110 & DIR3500, Technisat 520, Sangean WFR-29C.

What's with the "Not for sale to under 18s. Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. , consume with moderation." beside the picture of the radio and remote in that amazon.co.uk page?  :)

On a related note: I ordered a bottle of whiskey from amazon.de two days ago, and at check-out was required to enter my passport details in order to continue the payment process. There is no such requirement for beer or wine, but apparently all 'strong drink' requires proof of age. Did a bit of googling and found this
"  At 14 - minors are allowed to consume and possess undistilled (fermented) alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine, as long as they are in the company by a Custodial Person. (§ 9 JuSchG (2) Sub-Clause 1, No. 2)
At 16 - minors are allowed to consume and possess undistilled (fermented) alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine without their parents or a Custodian. (§ 9 JuSchG (1) 2.)
At 18 - having become adults, people are allowed access to distilled spirits, beverages containing distilled spirits, and food products containing non-negligible amounts of distilled spirits. (§ 9 JuSchG (1) 1.)"

Oh dear.

Question then is, will Medion be arranging for updates?

What's the current status of BBC stations on Internet radio? I don't need on-demand services, but will the live broadcasts be available on most sets, even if the listen-again ones are not?

BBC Live - the primary format is now DASH - not sure how many radios can handle that.

There are legacy streams in mp3 format - these are due to disappear sometime in the next couple of years.

Any radio with access to Tunein will give you live BBC (but some complaints that the stream can suffer dropouts, eg. alexa echo)

Most recent Frontier-based models can nowadays. As mentioned, they need firmware version 2.10 or better. As far as I know, this includes all current models from Roberts, Revo, Goodmans and Hama, and some from Technisat, Auna, and others. Not sure about MediaU-based radios. And, of course, Grace's "+" radios.

There are legacy streams in mp3 format - these are due to disappear sometime in the next couple of years.

There was no fixed date for their demise, although 2017 was mentioned a couple of years ago. Possible there has been another stay of execution. Maybe the BBC has even forgotten that they exist....

Thanks for all the your collective input. Have decided to limp along with what I've got until I am forced to buy a latest-generation receiver. If I buy something now, it may not be even usable in a few years time.

Anyone know of any radios in the US that can handle DASH?

I just received a Pure Evoke C-F6 from Costco. It has 36 presets, 12 each for FM, DAB and Internet Radio.

Just to be clear: I was referring to internet radio presets only, not to total numbers of presets including FM and DAB.

If you're not bothered about sound quality (sounds a bit transistory) get a cheap amazon dot next time they are on sale in Germany.   For better sound you can pair it to any bluetooth speaker.
