You mean BBC podcasts? No they don't work here.

Not podcasts ... didn't Reciva offer catch-up streams at one time?

I haven't tried "Listen Again" for a long time.

Podcasts have replaced that function for me.

I checked there as well ;)
Nothing listed on my Tangent Quattro but that could have been because of the BBC XML changes.
However, since no-one called in here to complain, I assumed that the capability had been removed and it was now only Live and Podcasts.

Thos not living in the eh (small cough) United Kingdom must consider ourselves lucky to receive the live mp3 broadcasts. A compromise that was to last three years, after which we will toddle off and buy a Roberts 94i or some such.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for posting about this, we have made a few changes to our server-side software and are planning on pushing it live on Monday.

All the best and many apologies for the outage,
---David

I see that there is now a DASH choice in reciva for the BBC national channels. So are reciva radios in the UK now able to play DASH streams natively?

I think that the presentation of DASH as an option in the radio menu and also the web site player has been there for a while.
However, it does not work on my radio with "legacy enhanced" firmware (I think that was the term).
Perhaps it works with Grace Digital radios ... but would need to (at least appear to) be in UK to try it I think.

The web-based player would need a locally installed player than can handle DASH and to be invoked would need to be associated with
Content-Type: application/dash+xml
However, I have not found a browser (on Windows) that will play it.
MS Edge seems to get closest in that it recognises that it is some sort of media - but responds with "invalid source".
Firefox will not play it from Reciva site because the site is https but the BBC DASH is being served over HTTP (not HTTPS) so shows a security violation (and I did not see somewhere to turn that check off for testing purposes).
Safari and Chrome just asked for something to handle .mpd file ... so might be able to associate it with an external player.

Thanks.  Perhaps the DASH choice has been in the Reciva menu for a while.  I only just noticed it.  As the BBC DASH streams are geolocked to the UK, where I'm not, there's not much reason for me to pay attention.

I recall Grace saying that none of their Reciva radios, even the newer ones, could play DASH streams.  The non-Reciva Grace Plus radios could play the BBC's HLS streams.  I'm not sure that the BBC still offers HLS streams. The Plus radios were designed to play HLS because Sirius XM streams are encrypted HLS.

So, if Reciva radios can't play DASH streams, and there aren't web-based players either, then why is DASH a choice on Reciva's BBC menu?

I checked the Avox Grand, the most recent Reciva based radio that I have, and not many BBC stations show the DASH option. In fact, of the national stations only BBC Radio 4 comes up with a DASH stream, which the Grand is unable to play. I am in the UK.
