IPdio Tune and firmware v.266
« on: 02:03:06 | 27 February, 2020 »
Is it possible to update the tuner with firmware v.257 to the version 266, if use the tuner as a digital transport (the wi-fi module and the DAC are not required)? Did anyone have experience update firmware this tuner?

I did try once to run v265 firmware on a v257 different radio (by switching modules), but although it appeared to boot up, there was nothing on the display and no audio. The problem appears to be that the v265 and v266 series firmware has newer audio and display and WLAN drivers for more recent audio and display and WLAN hardware, and lacks the older drivers for older hardware.

The IPDIO Tuner was initially released with v257 firmware, but a later version (with updated chips) had v265 or v266. It may still be possible to get one with the later firmware on Ebay, (but you'd have to instruct the seller on how to check the firmware for you!).
