Phew!
Just this minute,
Managed to climb aboard as the Mother Ship "SS Reciva Forum" went down with all but a few life boats filled with shocked travellers..Did anyone see the Ice-Berg?
I suppose it was inevitable...
So long as the Reciva Line does not go into "Recivaship"..
Hi fellows..

That's me told then.

Hi, Another Reciva refugee also. If everyone that was taking care of the other forum came here we'll be fine, they were the ones that held up Reciva anyway. :D

Glad I've found this. Couldn't believe that Reciva closed their forum without any advanced notice. What the *!*$ are they playing at. Even though I didn't contribute much I  read the postings every evening and found them very informative and entertaining (the entertaining part usually wasn't even discussing Reciva radios most of the time). Hopefully all of the familiar regulars will find this new forum site and we will be back (almost) as we were.

I'm another one who no longer posted regularly on the reciva forum but still came by to read, though not every evening. I know the that many people would not have got their radios working without the unofficial help the forum offered, so it suggests Reciva don't expect to sell many more radios.
It was a shock on the 29th to see the very bald message Reciva posted. I do note that the forum.reciva.com (http://forum.reciva.com) still works, but they have taken the link off the home page.

Phew! I'm glad I've landed safely, it was touch and go for a while. Thanks for the lifebelt and God bless all who sail in recivarefuge.net  ;)

Your existing presets will continue to work.  But you can't change them unless you do this:  http://recivarefuge.net/forum/index.php?topic=15.0

You have to sharpfin the radio and install the enhancement pack - this allows you to view and edit presets.

*surfaces* Hi folks.

Re the Sharpfin process, does it rely on any of Reciva's servers to work?

If Reciva goes under and shuts down all servers, would it then be too late to try Sharpfin, i.e must it be done while Reciva is still a going concern?

I think you only would need Reciva access if you wanted to download a firmware.  The enhancement pack features don't depend on Reciva.

Well, that could be checked by trying to load the Sharpfin patch / enhanceemnt pack with internet disconnected.

If I have time, I'll try it tomorrow.

Shocked beyond belief, but I'm glad there's this place.  I'm terrified of Reciva going under though.   :-\

Hey to all - just got here in time too! Disappointed but not surprised that the forum has gone - it has been dead for a long time.

Only hope this gives the Sharpfin project the boost it needs.

Hi all. Signed up yesterday after checking the old Reciva forum for the first time in months. At least that says something about reliability this year. I was disappointed but not greatly surprised by the shutdown of the old forum. A polite explanation and apology would have been nice, but that seems never to have been Reciva's way of doing things.

There is a polite explanation on the Reciva site - but to see it now you have to go to the old URL at https://forum.reciva.com

I just joined after my Sanyo quit on me and I went to the old forum for the first time in several months.  I was afraid that Receva had died and maybe it has or at least is having technical problems.  I got online to see if I had a server problem, but I have no problem connecting.

glad i was able to board the lifeboat.  as i understand it i must install something called sharkfin to continue changing my grace ir 1000 as radio stations change.  is this doable by a tech amature? and how is it done?  -johnb.

I am not sure what you mean, to be honest. But if you mean whether you need to install Sharpfin to get up-to-date station lists on your radio, the answer is no, you don't need to do that. As Reciva still maintains the database, your radio will get station list updates on a regular basis.

Hi thanks for being here.

I recently bought a Roberts WM201 and still get confused by it all so hopefully can get some help by trawling your messages.

Hello Tolkny, welcome.

The Roberts WM201 is very similar to the Sangean WFR-20, so you might find some support from that direction as well.

Thank you for starting this forum.  It is nice to have somewhere to turn when things don't work.
