Hello and BASIC Qestion
« on: 19:10:23 | 08 June, 2011 »
Hi all,

I have just stumbled across Reciva by searching for one of my Favourite radio shows - Solid Steel
https://www.reciva.com/stations/search?q=solid+steel&categories=&codec=&min_bitrate=&max_bitrate=&working=true

I have a Pioneer VSX-1020 amplifier that is internet radio capable but cannot seem to find the URL for this particular radio station. Can I listen to Solid Steel and other stations found on Reciva website on my pioneer amp??

Many thanks!

If your Pioneer has a way to understand and tune into stream URLs, then yes. The URL used by Reciva for that station is http://www.totallyradio.com/stream/gateway.php?file=78659&user_id=&hq=Y&broadband=Y

Thanks - that has done it! How did you find that URL so I can do the same in the future?

Cheers

As a Reciva database maintainer I can look up the stream URLs of many stations very easily (not all - quite a few entries are edit locked by Reciva).

Non database maintainers can look at the source code of the Reciva player window when you select a station to play on the Reciva portal - after some searching there will be a reference to the streaming URL that the player uses.
For a more general introduction on stream extraction, see http://reciva-users.wikispot.org/streamextraction

Unfortunately the document this wiki suggests reading prior to proceeding with the streamextraction instructions is no longer valid (https://inet.argonaudio.com/index.php?option=com_kb&page=articles&articleid=4&Itemid=104).

I am a new Reciva radio user, and need to unable to capture iheartradio and Slacker radio stations URL's.  Will registering my radio and upgrading my firmware enable these stations?

Thank you for any assistance!

While the old Reciva FAQ entry was useful - you should find more than enough in the wiki.
I haven't looked at iheartradio or slacker for a long time.
If you are in USA then firmware upgrade might help - but I think Reciva wrote here recently that iheartradio is going through changes and won't work for a while.
Reciva-based Logik IR100 and Tangent Quattro MKII plus lots of Logitech (ex-Slimdevices) Squeezebox and 2 old Turtlebeach Audiotron, handful of O2 Jogglers and some Raspberry Pis

Paul,

Thank you very much for your reply!  I will continue using the wiki, as well as look for updates regarding those two stations.  I downloaded the URLSnooper, but have trouble sifting through the hundreds of url's it is returning, in order to locate the actual signal.  I will keep at it.

Much appreciation for your help, as I hope to be able to contribute to this forum myself.
