Everything's being tied down for privatisation. Don't want any stuff getting out which can't be potentially monetized.

Even PBS is considering programme breaks for advertising.

Public broadcasting is too potentially profitable and/or dangerous to be allowed to continue.

I know it sounds as if I'm in conspiracy mood ...

If anyone is using the BBC  iplayer (eg. on smart tvs, or maybe via the Fire TV) there's a new feature to play live 'what's on now' for all the bbc channels.   Pretty cool.

Is the Kodi app still dead? Haven't been there in a while.

There are a couple of 'spin-offs from the alternative 'mikey' plugin - wasn't too impressed myself.

The android app has the live feature but it seems to have disappeared from the smart tv apps (ony lasted a few hours!).

FYI:
Anyone in Europe living within this footprint
http://exnetapps.intelsat.com/flash/coverage-maps/sat_foot.html?sat=Intelsat%20907%20at%20332.5%BA%20E&display=map&spot=3
can also receive all standard BBC TV and radio signals via Intelsat 907 at 27.5° west
http://www.kn0wall.co.uk/wordpress/2014/09/21/receiving-uk-television-from-intelsat-907-at-27-5w/
The receiver can be had for around €50. A 60-cm dish should suffice for most of Western/Central Europe, with a larger dish required at the fringes.
I'm not sure what kind of audio quality the radio channels offer here, but am assuming that it has to be significantly better than 126 kbps.
